THE 2024 SKILL-UP WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROJECT

In the year 2024, we proudly launched the Skill Up Women Empowerment Project, a significant initiative designed to address the pressing economic challenges that many women in our communities are currently facing. These challenges have been exacerbated by ongoing hyperinflation and economic downturns, significantly diminishing opportunities for financial stability. Through a comprehensive needs assessment, we were able to identify and select 30 participants from the regions of Angwa Makama and Nasarawa, with a particular focus on those who are especially vulnerable and in urgent need of economic assistance. The selection process centered around women who not only lacked viable livelihood opportunities but also demonstrated a strong desire and determination to enhance their financial situations.

The training for the Skill Up Women Empowerment Project took place at the Oaks Initiative for Transformation head office, where a highly qualified trainer led the participants in hands-on instructional sessions and dedicated mentorship. This immersive training was designed to equip each participant with the essential skills and knowledge necessary for achieving success in their ventures.

The Skill Up Women Empowerment Project has already marked a significant success in its early stages. Participants have gained invaluable skills that empower them to generate income, thereby improving their overall quality of life. A number of these motivated women have successfully launched their own small-scale businesses, producing and selling their goods to schools and various local institutions. Moreover, the project has cultivated a profound sense of empowerment and self-reliance among the women, enabling them to tackle their challenges with confidence and resilience. The inspiring success stories emerging from our participants powerfully illustrate the transformative impact that education and economic empowerment can have on individuals and their families. By equipping these women with the necessary resources and tools to thrive, we have played a pivotal role in helping them build a brighter and more sustainable future for themselves and their loved ones.
